Having spoken with dozens of independent school parents, pupils, alumni, and headteachers over the past 12 months as part of my work with Association For Families Of Independent Schooling (AFIS) C.I.C., one theme has consistently emerged: young people leaving independent schools often demonstrate notably high levels of confidence and aspiration.
It is therefore unsurprising that many go on to succeed across a wide range of career paths, from podcasting to politics.
Rather than reducing this to a question of elitism, it is worth examining what these schools and families are doing well, and how those strengths might inform broader conversations about education and opportunity.
